Grass Roots wins second IVCA Award for Big Bang event4th January, 2011 The events and communications division of Grass Roots has won gold for the International Visual Communications Association (IVCA) LiveCom 2010 Learning Experience Award for the company's production of The Big Bang 2010 event. The award recognises the best experiential learning events in the industry and this is the second accolade that the company has celebrated for The Big Bang event, an educational event for not-for-profit organisation, Engineering UK – in October, the company was also highly commended at a ceremony held at the British Film Institute in Southbank, London for the IVCA Clarion Awards. The Big Bang is an annual three-day experiential event designed to promote science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) careers to children and young adults aged between 9-19. Grass Roots is also producing this year's Big Bang event, which takes place at the International Convention Centre at the ExCel, London from 10th – 12th March. Simon Allison, Director of Operations and Production at Grass Roots, said: "We feel very privileged to receive such an important award for our work on The Big Bang. Engineering UK is a fantastic organisation to work with and we would like to thank them for choosing us to produce this important educational event. "Our objective was to create an event that was not only a brilliant day out but that ultimately fired the participants up about careers in the STEM sector, rather than present ‘just another exhibition' and this award is proof that we achieved that. The experiential elements that we brought into this event, from the live experiments, which children could take part in and interact with, as well as the overall layout of the exhibition, all captured the interest of this event's target audience and we were really pleased with the result. "Our focus now is to concentrate on making the Big Bang 2011 even better!" The IVCA LiveCom 2010 awards identify, celebrate and promote the excellence of the Live Event industry. EngineeringUK is an independent, not-for-profit organisation whose purpose is to promote the vital contribution that engineers, engineering and technology make to society.
