to work with Victim Support
21st January, 2011
Pharmaceutical team Project Manager, Victoria May, at Events and Communications specialist, Grass Roots has won one of 500 places on the Vodafone World of Difference programme. The programme gives people the chance to work for a UK-based charity of their choice for two months and get paid for their time. Vodafone said " over 10,000 people registered and the standard of applications was extremely high."
Victoria joined Grass Roots in March 2010 and having won this terrific opportunity to become part of the Vodafone World of Difference programme she is going to take a 2-month sabbatical to work for the Victim Support charity. In her competition application Victoria put forward this particular charity following her degree in criminology, which ignited a passion on the subject. Victoria commented; " Financial constraints have previously prevented me from being able to take on a charitable role, so this is a real dream come true for me."
Victoria's work at Victim Support will begin in March, when she will be involved in increasing the profile of the charity through fund-raising activities and helping victims of crime by playing a support role in their criminal justice needs.
Ainsley Procter, Events Management, Operations Director at Grass Roots remarked: "Victoria has only been with Grass Roots for 10 months but she has already proved to be a highly-valued team member. Although we will miss her whilst she is away, we are delighted she has the chance to fulfil her long-standing dream."
